Acai (pronounced ah-sigh-ee)
This small, round black-purple (and tasty!) berry similar to a grape is a super-food, with 10-times the antioxidants of grapes and twice that of blueberries. It is also rich in anti-inflammatory omega-9 fats, essential fatty acids, iron, calcium, vitamin A and more. Hard to find at the greengrocer, you may be able to find it in pill or juice form in health food stores. It is also said to assist in weight loss, and anti-aging guru Dr. Perricone has put it on his “ten essential superfoods” list. So, eat up!
