Spinal-Fluid Test Can Detect Alzheimer’s

After decades of slow progression surrounding Alzheimer’s research, scientists have finally made a breakthrough.

Researchers are reporting that a spinal-fluid test can identify patients with significant memory loss who are on their way to developing Alzheimer’s with 100 per cent accuracy.

The study will appear today in the Archives of Neurology.

Experts of the field have confirmed that the disease starts a decade or more before the symptoms will show. By the time the symptoms present themselves, it may be too late to save the brain.

It would be ideal to find ways to identify those who are getting the disease and use those people to see how long it takes for symptoms to occur and to also test the drugs that may slow or stop the disease.
