Looking for a few easy self-care tips to practise now and work into your everyday post-pandemic? Here are three pearls of healthy wisdom, which we believe can help now during this time of uncertainty and also when we all return to normal.

1. Meditate on the moment.

If you’re overwhelmed, steal away for a five-minute meditation break. Meditation can improve your ability to concentrate, so find a quiet corner of the house, even if it’s the bathroom, and inhale deeply. Focus on your breathing. You’ll emerge calmer and able to work not just harder but also smarter.

2. Change your stress eating.

Instead of junk food, concentrate on eating healthy: berries are rich in vitamin C, which helps fight increased levels of cortisol, a stress hormone;  pistachios can lower your blood pressure, which means less of a spike when you get that next rush of adrenaline.

3. Get moving to maintain your weight.

According to the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, people who successfully maintain their weight loss get about an hour of physical activity almost every day of the week. You can  aim for 20 minutes three times a day.

At home, try marching on the spot combined with jumping jacks or dancing all out for 20 minutes while watching your favourite television show or listening to music. Mix it up by climbing the stairs up and down for five minutes (don’t forget to hang on to the hand rail for extra stability).
