Growing a Moustache for ‘Movember’ Charity

Gentlemen, get your razors ready. Today is the first day of “Movember” (a combination of “moustache” and “November”), the annual charity drive encouraging men to grow a moustache in order to raise funds and awareness for men’s health issues, particularly prostate cancer. For Movember participants, the rules are simple.

Each “Mo Bro” (as volunteers are called) starts Nov. 1st with a clean shaven face, register at http://ca.movember.com/ and begins seeking sponsorship from family, friends, colleagues, jut about anyone who will support your efforts. For the rest of the month “Mo Bros” will grow and groom their moustache.

Ladies can support their Mo-growing men by helping to get sponsorship for their Mo-growing efforts.

At the end of the month the moustaches are shaved; all in good fun for an important cause. Movember parties are often held to celebrate the big shaving event. In Canada, it’s estimated that one in seven men will get prostate cancer.

The Movember month charity initiative was created in 2003 by a group of Australians and has grown to become a major world wide event, with thousands of people taking part in countries all over the world.
