Boomers Will Have Unhealthier Old Ages Than Their Parents

A new report warns that boomers are likely to have unhealthier old ages than their parents.

“Next-generation seniors set to be less healthy than current seniors, with 55 per cent growth in diabetes, 25 percent increase in obesity compared to levels of 15 years ago.”

That’s the bad news for boomers from the United Health Foundation, an American foundation connected to a marketer of medical plans for retirees.

Instead of benefitting from new medical technology and advances in medical science, boomers look to be suffering from a less healthy lifestyle.

Researchers looked at the current health status of people ages 50 to 64 and compared them to the same ages in 1999.

They suggest that the next generation of seniors will be 9 percent less likely to say they have good or excellent overall health.
