Lighten Up This Weekend with a Dark ‘n Stormy

Dark ‘n Stormy- Bermuda’s National Cocktail
Recipe:
Into an Old Fashioned glass filled with ice put: 1-1/2 oz Gosling’s Black Seal Rum.

Top with Bermuda Ginger Beer to taste (until it looks like a storm cloud).

Optional garnish: Lime wedge.

The story behind the Dark ‘n Stormy: The Dark ‘n Stormy originated in the ginger beer factory, run as a subsidiary to the Royal Naval Officer’s Club. It was soon discovered that a splash of local black run was just what the ginger beer was missing. The name is said to have orginated hen an old salt, observed that the drink was the “colour of a cloud only a fool or a dead man would sail under.” Probably followed by- “Barman, I’ll have another Dark ‘n Stormy.”
