Cocktail Recipe: The Algonquin

A toast to the 1920s when the The Algonquin’s Round Table was in its heyday, and Dorothy Parker and Robert Benchley presided over the New York literary scene. Here, a recipe for their signature cocktail.

The Algonquin

Two ounces of rye

Shaved ice

1 ounce of dry vermouth

1 ounce of pineapple juice

Put the ingredients in a cocktail shaker, shake, strain and serve, garnished with a maraschino cherry — and then talk as brilliantly as Dorothy Parker for the rest of the night.
