DISH UP: Turkey Chili

Classic, fabulous, an all-time favourite–when you’re cooking for a crowd on a budget you can’t beat turkey chili!

Turkey Chili


2 medium onions
2 lbs dark turkey meat
2-3 Tbsp olive oil
2 Tbsp salt
2 Tabsp ancho chili
1 Tbsp oregano
1 Tbsp paprika
3 cloves garlic
2 stalks celery
1 small red bell pepper
1 chili pepper
1 large tin fresh tomatoes (chopped)
1 cup of water
2 bay leaves
3 sprigs thyme
2 tins black beans


1. Saute the onions until translucent 2-3 minutes.

2. Next add the meat and brown for 10 minutes before adding the spices. Cook the meat and spices for a while before adding the celery and sweet pepper. Also add a fresh chili pepper (optional), thyme and bay leaves. Lastly, add the tomatoes, water, and black beans and cook for one hour on low heat.

3. Serve with avocado, red onions, cilantro, sour cream, and spring onions or any combination thereof.
