Recipe: Raise a Glass with the Hemingway Daiquiri

To mark what would have been Ernest Hemingway’s birthday, raise a glass in belated celebration after mixing up Papa’s signature daiquiri, La Floridita. It’s so refreshing, he’s rumoured to have downed as many as 10 of them on a good day.

The Hemingway Daiquiri

* 2 oz. white rum (preferably something Cuban, like Havana Club)
* ½ oz. fresh lime juice
* ½ oz. grapefruit juice
* 1 tsp. Maraschino liqueur (As it’s hard to get your hands on Maraschino liqueur in Canada, you can substitute it for another cherry liqueur. Just keep in mind that Earnest wouldn’t approve)
* 1 tsp. sugar

Shake brutally with ice and strain into a chilled glass.
