Oldest Woman in Canada Dies

Just seven weeks short of her 113th birthday, Sum Ying Fung, Canada’s oldest woman, has died while receiving treatment for pneumonia according to the CBC.

Fung was born in Guangdong, China, in 1899. To give a bit of perspective, this was 10 years before the first Model T.

The great-great-grandmother was a true Zoomer and very active in her older years. After recovering from brain surgery at 90, she took a trip around the world with family members and visited Germany, France and Italy. When she was 111, she flew from Vancouver to California to see her son.

Fung is survived by her son, daughter, 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
