Director Tony Scott Dies at 68

Hollywood director Tony Scott, famous for his movies Top Gun, Beverly Hills Cop II and Days of Thunder, just to name a few, died yesterday after jumping from the Vincent Thomas Bridge in Los Angeles. He was 68. According to the L.A. Times, investigators found a note with listed contact information in his car close by and a suicide note at his office. Many peers have expressed their grief on Twitter. Ron Howard tweeted, “No more Tony Scott movies. Tragic day.” Film director Duncan Jones said, “Just heard about Tony Scott news. Horrible … Tony was a truly lovely man who took me under his wing & ignited my passion to make films.”

Scott is survived by his wife, Donna, and two sons, Max and Frank.

Update: Scott had been diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer.
