Singer Raylene Rankin Dies at 52

Raylene Rankin, member of the Celtic-country band The Rankin Family, lost her long battle with cancer at the age of 52. Rankin had been fighting cancer since 2001 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer, which returned in 2009. In 2011 the cancer spread to her liver. Her sister and bandmate said in a statement, “She was a very bright lady and a strong leader and I often looked to her for guidance and I will have a very large void in my life now that she is gone.”

Singer Anne Murray added in a statement, “It is a sad loss of a fine talent from a family who has endured so much tragedy already.” And that Ms. Rankin will “live on through her music.” Click here to read more about Rankin.
