Jazz Musician and Composer Peter Appleyard Dies at 84

Famed jazz musician and composer Peter Appleyard passed away Wednesday evening at the age of 84, according to his manager John Cripton. He died of natural causes.

A Torontonian by way of Lincolnshire, England, Appleyard shared the stage and spotlight with the likes of Frank Sinatra, Benny Goodman, Ella Fitzgerald, and Miles Davis, among others. Appleyard remained active in music right up to his passing, including releasing a new album – Sophisticated Ladies – last year.
