2016 Golden Globes: The Best in Beauty
We pick the ten best beauty looks on last night’s red carpet at the Golden Globes Awards.
Cate Blanchett, 46
The Aussie actress is known for taking risks in the style stakes. Her hair’s extreme side part is a bit of a thing now, and she works it here with a slick look. Smoky eyes and nude pink lip stand out.
Viola Davis, 50
The How to Get Away With Murder star is a rule breaker on the red carpet. Whoever said you can’t mix smoky eyes with a bright lip clearly hadn’t met Davis. The hair is clean and simple letting her make up and gown steal the show.
Jane Fonda, 78
So often make up artists warn women over 50 to stay clear of matte make up. Fonda is living proof that’s a load of hooey. On her the matte foundation, eye make up and matte pink lipstick look modern and strike the perfect note of sophistication.
Jerry Hall, 59
Never one to shy away from making a red carpet statement, the former model and ex-Mick Jagger, channelled Old Hollywood with a bold red lip and cat-eye liner. We would have preferred she left the diamond hair clip at home and let her tresses fall over one eye ala Veronica Lake. But that’s just us. Her best accessory of the night? The 84- year-old media magnate, Rupert Murdoch.
Jennifer Jason Leigh, 53
The Hateful 8 actress chose natural looking waves for her honey blonde hair. Make up is understated with pink blush and a nude pink lip that compliments the pale blue of her gown.
Regina King, 44
We love the classic Hollywood hair – the length, perfect waves and side part are a winner. She gets her make up right too with the always sexy black eye liner, false lashes and berry lip.
Jennifer Lopez, 46
There’s so much to love about JLo’s beauty look. The overall theme is honey-tone; the highlights in her hair, eye shadows and highlight powder make her glow as only she can. And the deep red lipstick and gloss really pop here.
Helen Mirren, 70
With her hair sporting the trendy extreme side part, she goes for simple glamour with bright red on the lip and a good lashing of mascara. Matte skin is kept shine free with translucent powder.
Julianne Moore, 55
With hair that glorious there is little this Oscar and Golden Globe winner can do wrong in the beauty stakes, and the smoky eye and pale lip are the perfect match.
Lily Tomlin, 76
This seasoned star knows who she is and what works for her, to wit, her hair is kept natural and loose and her make up is polished perfection.
