Carine Roitfeld Brings Her Brand of Sexy French Chic To Uniqlo
Uniqlo has teamed up with Carine Roitfeld for a special collection which will be launched on Friday, Nov. 11. This marks the global retailer’s third such collaboration with Roitfeld, who at 62-years-old, is a fashion force in the industry having made her mark as as a celebrated stylist before working for a decade as the editor-in-chief of Paris Vogue.
The Carine Roitfeld x Uniqlo collection features most of the French editrix’s personal style signatures – leopard print, pencil skirts, sexy bomber jackets. It looks like a very modern daytime collection suitable for a busy working woman but can easily transition to evening hours activities.
Since leaving her full time job at Paris Vogue in 2011, she is has taken to reinventing herself into a global brand. She splits her time between Paris and New York working on various projects, including her own bi-annual magazine, CR Fashion Book and working as the global fashion director of Harper’s Bazaar. A signature fragrance is also in the works.
A mother of two grown children and one grandchild, Roitfeld’s personal style – a combination of tousled rock-star hair, smudged eyeliner, fishnets and heels – makes her a sought-after figure by street style photographers during fashion weeks.
Her non-fussy approach to style makes makes her the perfect fit for Uniqlo’s design sensibilities. The Japanese retail giant – which recently entered the Canadian market – is known for their streamlined modern aesthetic, remarkable quality and low prices.
