Eye creams are becoming an important part of our daily self-care routine.

Did you know that the eye is surrounded by 22 muscles and engages in approximately 10,000 movements a day? The eyes, as they say, are the windows to the soul but now, with most of us wearing masks when we’re out and about, they’ve been called into even greater focus.

“Our eyes are our new smiles,” says Marie-Hélène Lair, Clarins’ scientific communications director, over a Zoom presentation along with her boss, Olivier Courtin-Clarins, during the launch of Clarins Total Eye Lift this past summer. As Lair succinctly puts it, “All our expressions are on our eyes.”

Here, we take a look at some of the latest eye-care innovations to take care of the delicate skin around your peepers.

We’re loving everything that’s happening way down under in New Zealand, from Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern to the Kiwi people’s connection to nature. New to Canada is Antipodes, a female-led, organic and vegan-friendly skin-care line that plays on Indigenous plant-based ingredients. Kiwi seed oil is rich in vitamin C, a key ingredient in skin brightening that also helps to moisturize and soften fine lines; Vinanza grape seeds are high in polyphenols and antioxidants to protect the delicate skin around the eyes.

Active ceramides and botanicals including Schisandra fruit, which comes from the berry of the Chinese magnolia vine, and Arjuna contain polyphenols, flavenoids and antioxidants to help support the elasticity and firmness and help reduce puffiness, dark circles and the appearance of wrinkles.
