Choosing an advisor

Question: In a recent article in 50Plus Magazine you recommend searching out another investment advisor if you are unhappy with your existing advisor. My question is simply: How does one go about locating another investment advisor? There are many out there, some of whom are totally useless. What sort of questions should one ask of a prospective advisor to determine if they would be satisfactory to your needs? – B.M.

Answer:

Your best source of information would be relatives or friends who have experience with financial advisors whom they trust. If you don’t know anyone who can point you in the right direction, then I suggest you go to the Advocis website

You’ll find an excellent list of questions there that you can use as a starting point for your interviews.
