Which type of funds to buy?

Q – I am new to mutual fund investment. Would you please suggest which type of fees I should go for. – A.D.B.

A – I generally buy my funds on a front-end load basis with zero commission. This gives me complete flexibility to move out at any time. Also, in some cases, front-end load funds have lower MERs.

However, much depends on your individual situation. If you are a long-term investor and you can’t get a zero commission on front-end loads, then DSC (deferred sales charge) funds are okay. However, in this case it’s best to choose well-diversified families so you can switch later if you wish at minimal or no cost. – G.P.
