Question: If I convert some of my RRSPs to a RRIF at age 57, could I claim the $2,000 pension credit or do I have to wait until I am 65 to get that? – Robin D.

Gordon Pape answers: You have to be 65 to claim the pension credit for RRIF withdrawals so don’t bother to convert now. However, income received from an employer pension plan is eligible whatever the age of the annuitant.
