Beauty: How To Do a Bold Lip

What’s sexier than a bold, red lipstick? For centuries women have painted their lips crimson and the appeal still stands today. A bold lip colour is an easy way to add drama to the face, and there’s no reason to fear it–just find a shade that works with your skin tone and hair colour. We spoke to Melissa Gibson, Senior Artist at MAC Cosmetics to get her tips for creating, a bold beautiful lip.

1. Prime lips with a colourless lip balm or primer (look for a product that is not glossy).

2. Apply lipstick with a lip brush concentrating on the centre of the lip.

3. Line the lips using a lip pencil in a slightly deeper colour. Use small strokes to shape the lips.

4. To finish, use a brush to apply a light dusting of translucent powder to mattify the colour and keep the lipstick from bleeding.
