A New Vision for Aging

Moses Znaimer, in association with CARP (Canada’s Association for Zoomers), will host a one-day conference featuring 15 of the world’s brightest minds speaking on the important health, wellness and longevity topics that affect Zoomers. The event will also include a musical performance, as well as breakfast service, lunch and wine reception.

Here’s a sneak peek at the exciting line-up for this year’s conference:


–Internationally acclaimed filmmaker JOHN ZARITSKY has won more than 40 awards for his documentary films, including an Academy Award, seven Geminis, two Rockies and a Columbia Dupont award.


–ALBERT NERENBERG is an award-winning filmmaker, journalist and “Laughologist” for CBC radio. His feature documentary Laughology recently played to sell out crowds at the Hot Docs and Just for Laughs Film Festivals.


–Who has the right to choose the location, the manner and the time of her or his own death? RICHARD MACDONALD has traveled widely presenting his philosophy and conviction that such control must be in the hands of the person in question.


–EDNA LEVITT, a certified personal trainer, launched 50+ fitness to focus exclusively on personal training for muscle toning, strength building and enhanced physical performance for people in her own age group – 50+.


–ISABEL HOFFMAN MILES, B.Sc.H., M.A., is the President of the Iberian Chapter of the World Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine as well as the chair of an annual congress on Anti-Aging Medicine and BioMedical Technologies (A4M Iberia).


–ALAN R. HIRSCH, M.D., F.A.C.P., a Neurologist and Psychiatrist specializing in the treatment of smell and taste loss, is the Neurological Director of the Smell & Taste Research and Treatment Foundation in Chicago.


–SYDNEY BACON is a retired businessman, raconteur and Zoomer. As a Royal Air Force meteorologist, Sydney came to Canada from England in 1940 to work at a training school for navigators near Goderich, Ontario.


–DR. JACQUELINE SHAN is Co- Founder, President, & Chief Scientific Officer of Afexa Life Sciences. Dr. Shan is a widely recognized scientist and innovative entrepreneur, and co-discoverer of the nationally acclaimed medicine COLD-FX.


–DR. SHERRY COOPER is in constant demand as a speaker and writer because of her ability to simplify and de-mystify the complex subjects of economics and finance. Canada’s national newspaper calls Sherry “the megawatt celebrity economist”.


–DR. BONNIE HENRY author of Soap and Water and Common Sense The Definitive Guide to Viruses, Bacteria, Parasites and Disease. Dr. Henry is a leading epidemiologist (or virus-hunter, as they are often called) and public health doctor.

–GARY CHANEY alongside his wife CHARLOTTE and partner DEBBIE WHEELIS have been swing dancing for years. It was their tandem Imperial Swing routine that was filmed and posted on YouTube in May of 2009 that got the attention of thousands of viewers.


–KEN NATESHVAR SCOTT: A pioneer, leader and innovator in the field of fitness, dance and yoga. Beginning young as a gymnast, and then as a performer in dance and theatre companies, Ken founded Canada’s first Dancersizer studio in the 1980’s.


–Texan CAROLYN MILFORD GILBERT, Founder of the International Association of Obituarists is a person of widely diverse interests. She has pursued her passions from classroom instruction to teaching mediation in law school.


–JARING TIMMERMAN: 100 year old swimmer – holder of four world records in his age group. While wintering in Arizona in 1989, Jaring Timmerman entered a state-level swimming competition called the Senior Olympics.


— Video appearance by TANYA JONES, the Chief Operating Officer of Alcor, the world’s largest cryonics organization. Cryonics is the process whereby death is prevented by cooling the body and brain to sub-zero temperatures.


–Video appearance by SUSANNE WIIGH-MASAK, a Swedish biologist, specializing in Marine Biology, who has discovered the secret to life after death. Her work focuses on how we are able to co-exist and live in tune with nature long after our mortal departure from this earth.


–DANIEL PERRY is the Executive Director of the not-for-profit Alliance for Aging Research in Washington, D.C. Founded in 1986, the Alliance is a leading U.S. citizen advocacy organization for promoting a broad agenda of medical and scientific research.


–DR. KEN WALKER (Gifford-Jones) is a graduate of the University of Toronto and The Harvard Medical School. He trained in general surgery at the Strong Memorial Hospital, University of Rochester.


–Video appearance by DIANA ATHILL, a British literary editor, novelist and memoirist who has worked with some of the most important writers of the 20th century. Athill graduated from Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford in 1939.


–SAN RIM is a very talented nine year old cellist, who first picked up the cello when he was four years old. San currently studies at The Royal Conservatory for the Performing Arts.


–JAY S. KEYSTONE, MD, FRCPC, is a professor of medicine at the University of Toronto, a staff physician at the Tropical Disease unit at the Toronto General Hospital and Director of the Medisys Travel Health Clinic in Toronto.
