Bermuda Tri-Angle

In late May, WestJet commenced its brand-new service to Bermuda via Toronto, making the island more accessible, in price and choice to airline consumers. Daily seasonal non-stop service from Toronto to Bermuda, which was recently voted the number one island in the Atlantic and Caribbean region by Condé Nast Traveler magazine, is part of WestJet’s expanded schedule for the summer of 2010. To top it off, WestJet was recently awarded the Airline Staff Service Excellence Award North America at the 2010 World Airline Awards, a survey conducted by the widely respected Skytrax, between July 2009 and April 2010.

“We are delighted to welcome WestJet to Bermuda,” said the Honourable Ewart F. Brown, Premier of Bermuda, as well as Minister of Tourism and Transport. “Our island home has for a long time had strong business, cultural and educational ties to Canada. Canadian visitors to our island shores and local residents traveling to Canada will now have a choice in direct air service between Bermuda and Toronto, the centre of Canada’s largest metropolitan area.” (www.westjet.com)

Another longstanding tie to Canada? The Fairmont group of hotels, represented on the island by the beachside Fairmont Southhampton, (www.fairmont.com/southampton) renowned for its 18-hole, par-three golf course, and the city-located Fairmont Hamilton Princess, for a more urban island experience. To celebrate, we offer up a recipe for Bermuda’s National cocktail.
