Best in Canada: Western Stopover: Victoria

Fit for a Queen
Rated the cycling capital of the country by Statistics Canada, the best view of Victoria in the summer is from your bicycle seat. Pick up your ride at Cycle BC (full-day rentals start at $24) and glide through the local farms, bird sanctuaries and trestle bridges that make up the 55 kilometres of the Galloping Goose Trail, which stretches from Victoria’s downtown core to the Saanich Peninsula. Stop for lunch at the Butchart Gardens and enjoy a delicious menu and 55 acres of beautiful display gardens, eco-friendly boat tours and a rose carousel. The Butchart Gardens offers a special treat in the summer months: from July to September catch a spectacular fireworks display, accompanied by live music, every Saturday night.
