Canadian Airlines voted as North America’s best

Canadian Airlines has been voted Best North American Airline of the Year by the air transport industry’s premier global award program, Official Airline Guide or OAG Airline of the Year Awards.

“Every one of our employees has contributed to this award,” said Kevin Benson, President and CEO of Canadian Airlines. “It is particularly gratifying as this award is measured by the votes of frequent business travellers.”

This is the second consecutive year that OAG has distinguished a Canadian carrier with this important award – Air Canada was the recipient of an OAG award in this category last year. New Canadian Airlines owner Air Canada was quick to congratulate its former rival, issuing its own press release shortly after the announcement.

“It is a great honor to be recognized by premium business travellers around the world,” said Robert Milton, Air Canada’s Chief Executive Officer. “Canadian Airlines is an airline with very professional employees that offers a tremendous service. This award highlights the potential to build on the success of two great airlines as we move ahead and capitalize on the strength of our internationally recognized and respected brands.”

The tveling public is no doubt in unanimous agreement with Mr. Milton. It may just well be that one strong Canadian airline will serve us well, but many still have doubts about how effective competition will be in the domestic market. The expansion of smaller airlines like WestJet is definitely a good sign for the consumer.
