The varied pleasures of Disneyworld

Everyone loves Disneyworld, but older visitors to Florida’s major attraction may have grown a little tired of what has now become the usual fare. Apparently the mouse is listening, and Disneyworld offers an impressive slate of special events and activities this February.

For those who would like a slightly tamer version of Fat Tuesday, Disney offers Mardi Gras at Pleasure Island Feb 12-16, billing it as the “biggest, best, most authentic Mardi Gras this side of Bourbon Street.” The streets will be alive with colorful decoration, live entertainment, and authentic N’awlins cuisine.

Baseball fans can get an early start on the season as the National League’s powerhouse Atlanta Braves return for a second season of spring training at Disney’s Wide World of Sports complex. The Braves have a 15-game Grapefruit League session at the double-deck Disney ballpark. Get ticket information by calling (407) 363-6600.

Photographers of all stripes will enjoy the Focus on People exhibit at the Disney Institute of Photography. The show is a total immersion in “people” photography, featuring renowned portrait, fashion, sports, and celebrity phographers sharing their skills and insights to help amateur photographers tell a story with pictures. Participants will learn how to use environment, expression, and light to capture a subject’s true personality. For further information or reservations, call (800) 282-9282.
