The Zoomer Report: Last minute getaways

Now that the weather outside is frightening, the idea of a last-minute getaway
can be very enticing.

It’s easier than ever to book at the spur of the moment, and it can net
you a great deal, but it’s not for everyone. The trade-off is you may
have to make a lot of compromises on the destination, the hotel and the kind
of room you want. So the more you care about those things, the more you should
plan ahead.

If you go the last-minute route, pick the destination first, rather than the
date, because being flexible on the day you leave can give you more alternatives.
And you’ll probably get the best selection if you can travel on a Tuesday,
Wednesday or Thursday.
