The Zoomer Report: Top New Hotels 2011

Summer holidays are upon us. So here’s a list of the top new hotels from the Travel and Leisure website. At the top — the Shangri-La Paris, a historic mansion near the Seine, where instead of lining up at a check-in counter, a staffer will greet you by name before escorting you through the marble, chandelier-lit lobby.

In Las Vegas, the website recommends the 52-story Cosmopolitan, where rooms will thrill design aficianados with great art you, a generous soaking tub and top-notch restaurants.

Across the pond, there’s the Venissa Ristorante Ostello on Mazzorbo island in Venice. Here, the former chef of Milan’s Hotel Principe di Savoia, Paola Budel, helms the kitchen. And here’s a bonus — rates start at $156.

In the U.S. Ivanka Trump, daughter of the Donald, is behind the Trump SoHo. The website says it’s exotic touch is the city’s first hammam, or Turkish bath. For those of us staying home, we’ve had hammams here for years.
