Celebrating 100 years at The Fairmont Copley Plaza

Centrally located on Copley Square, The Fairmont Copley Plaza is a landmark luxury hotel just steps from the cultural hub of Boston. On one side is the Back Bay, an area known for its cobbled, grid-like streets of elegant brick townhouses. The fashionable Newbury Street, known as the Rodeo Drive of Boston, is here, just one block from the hotel. In the opposite direction lies the South End, a historic gem of a neighborhood, featuring one-of-a-kind boutiques, trendy dining options and dynamic nightlife. A short walk or cab ride will bring you to the Public Gardens, Boston Common and the lively Theatre District. With easy access to public transportation, The Fairmont Copley Plaza is truly at the heart of it all.

To commemorate our centennial celebration in 2012, the hotel will complete a $20 million plus renovation and restoration project. The restoration will include enhancements to the hotel’s 383 guestrooms and Fairmont Gold Lounge, including new furniture, fixtures and equipment. The project will be managed by Parker Torres, a Massachusetts-based international interior design firm specializing in hospitality design. The firm will incorporate the marble colors and hues of the public space into the guestrooms, bringing in an elegant plum and blue color scheme. The effect will be a design palette of quiet sophistication that leverages the hotel’s rich history and Back Bay location while meeting the needs of today’s chic and sophisticated traveler.

In addition to aesthetic and structural updates, a 3,000 square-foot rooftop health and fitness center will open in late 2011, featuring state-of-the-art TechnoGym equipment, manicure/pedicure/massage stations, and an incredible outdoor deck, perfect for soaking up some sun during the warmer months. The fitness center will be architecturally contemporary, with floor-to-ceiling windows that frame a sweeping view of the Back Bay.
