Munro’s New Book out this Fall

Can Lit fans are buzzing with the news that Alice Munro will release a new collection of short stories this fall titled Dear Life.

McClelland and Stewart will publish the book on October 16, making it eligible for the 2013 literary award season— unless Munro withdraws her name for consideration as she did for the 2009 Giller Prize with Too Much Happiness.

Since publishing her first collection of short stories in 1968, Alice Munro has been regarded as the master of her craft, even being called the Chekov of our time by critics.
Her numerous honours include three Governor General’s Awards, two Giller Prizes, the United States’ National Book Critics Circle Award and the Edward MacDowell Medal in literature.

In 2009 she was named the third winner of the Man Booker International Prize confirming her status among the literary elite.

Her body of work includes Who Do You Think You Are, The Progress of Love, Friend of My Youth, The Love of a Good Woman, Runaway, and her latest Too Much Happiness.
