Good news

Think we stop thinking about sex as we age? Think again. A recent survey taken by SeniorSex.org reveals that older adults are as hot and bothered as ever.

Myth: Most older adults are not interested in or able to have enjoyable sex.

Fact: Most older adults are interested in sex and lead active sex lives. According to a recent survey of more than 10,000 people, 71 per cent of women and 90 per cent of men in the 50-59 age category reported they are sexually active and enjoy a high level of sexual satisfaction with a partner or alone. In the 60-69 age category, 65 per cent of women and 86 per cent of men reported the same, while in the aged 70 or older category, 61 per cent of women and 75 per cent of men are still highly enjoying sexual pleasure.

Myth: Older adults are usually unattractive and not sexually desirable.

Fact: If the cultural ideal of attractiveness (like that conveyed in the media) is the measuring stick, hardly any of us could consider ourselves attractive. Older adults seem to realize this and recognize truly attractive characteristics in other older adults.
