One of the many useful insights from Secrets from the Sex Lab: From First Kiss to Last Gasp, How to be Better in Bed by Judy Dutton

Keep the Blood Pumping
Your Brain, like your genitals, thrives on healthy blood flow. As a result, it’s best to avoid things that stem the flow of blood to your head, such as caffeine, nicotine and lack of sleep. People who regularly sleep less that seven hours a night showed lower levels of brain activity than those who sleep more. Get plenty of shut-eye, then, you’ll be much more inspired to get those bedsprings singing.

Put Your Brain on a Healthy Diet
Certain foods have also been shown to improve brain function, including lean protein, complex carbohydrates, and those rich in omega-3 fatty acids such as tuna, salmon, walnuts, olive oil and canola oil. Low levels of omega-3 fatty acids have been linked to depression, ADD, dementia and even suicide, all of which can clearly put a major crimp in the carnal activities.

Give your Brain Some Exercise
In brain terms, “exercise” means taking on new challenges. Try keeping your wits sharp with a weekly crossword puzzle or bridge game. The better conditioned your brain, the steamier sex can get once it starts.
