It’s the behind-the-scenes organization of Sal and Guild leader Eileen that really saves the day. The open auditions aren’t exactly Pop Idol standard, but there’s a part for everyone who wants to be involved. Sal’s daughter Tash insists on taking the lead role as she does every year, ignoring the fact that she may be getting a little old to play Cinderella.

A romantic special for the festive season. Geraldine manages to arrange this, under close supervision, and the young couple go from strength to strength. The Vicar then fulfils one of her parishoner’s dreams when she allows him to experience his first proper kiss with her…and it is then not only Alice that receives a marriage proposal.

Vicar of Dibley Christmas Special 2004 Part Two
Wednesday, December 21 at 8pm ET / 5pm PT
We return for a very special Christmas with the weird and wonderful characters of Dibley: the chocoholic vicar her not-so-bright best friend Alice and the men of the village, affectionately referred to even by themselves as ‘a bunch of morons’. As Geraldine’s 10th anniversary too, it’s double party time in this charming tale of alcoholism, gluttony, promiscuity and ecclesiastical disaster which, fortunately, ends very happily indeed. Come New Year, Geraldine is keen to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Live Aid; unfortunately, her enthusiasm isn’t quite matched by the villagers. She definitely doesn’t, however, want her 40th birthday mentioned, let alone celebrated. But could ‘Suzie’s Speed Dating Extravaganza’ be the perfect gift? Finally, in a strange twist of fate – the parishioners celebrate together in a way that Geraldine herself admits is the best birthday present she could have hoped for.
Vicar of Dibley Christmas Special 2006 Part One

Vicar of Dibley Christmas Special 2006 Part Two
Friday, December 23 at 8pm ET / 5pm PT
Everybody’s favourite village vicar returns in these two special length episodes. Geraldine is fed up with Townies buying weekend cottages in the village… until she meets one of them. Could charming, handsome Harry be Mr Right? Or is he Mr How Wrong Can You Be? When Harry asks Geraldine to marry him she can’t say yes quickly enough. Naturally, things don’t quite go according to plan. The vicar presiding over the wedding ceremony seems a little too fond of Geraldine, and the villagers seem determined to take over all the preparations for the big day. Would you want your wedding arranged by a bunch of deranged lunatics? And would you want the video to be shot in the style of Saving Private Ryan?
