Favre to Retire. Or Not

Yes it’s that time of year again, sportsfans, where we’re forced to endure the endless media speculation on whether Brett Favre will finally call it quits. The annual soap opera goes like this: at the beginning of each season, the now 40-year-old star quarterback (who holds almost every record) publicly agonizes over his decision on whether he’ll hang up the football cleats or suit up for another year. You may remember those press conferences in 2008 and 2009 where a tearful Favre “officially” announced his retirement, only to renege and come back to play another season. So, despite recent reports he’s having troubles with a bum ankle and has sent text messages to teammates saying: “This is it,” we think it’s best to heed the advice of this ESPN football blogger and “be skeptical.”
