ODE to Zoomer

Robert John Ivers of Port Perry is no stranger of the Zoomer vision. He sent this poem into to us and we thought we’d share!

ODE to Zoomer

When you retire you can still desire
The things that used to light your fire
If you’re 64 or 70 or more
You can be the one that someone adores
You gave it your all for so many seasons,
What more do you need, how many more reasons
To enjoy stage two of life-long learning
To enjoy even more of the things you’re yearning

Yes you can do it by applying yourself
Don’t be the one sitting back on the shelf

Golfing, skating, painting, riding
Tennis, acting, music, walking,
Biking, boating, fishing, swimming,
Yoga, running, sailing, skiing,
Bowling, curling, dancing or reading
You could even consider volunteering
’cause you know there’s always someone who needs
A helping hand for those kind of deeds

Yes you can do it by applying yourself
Don’t be the one sitting back on the shelf

Get out and see what the world has to offer,
Kick up your heels and savour the culture
’cause as far as we know there is limited time
For us to spend out very last dime.
No matter if you’re down on these days
You have the choice to change your ways.
You may of heard of all those boomers
Well now is the time to join the Zoomers.

You you can do it by applying yourself
Don’t be the one sitting back on the shelf
