Habs Legend Hospitalized

Montreal Canadien great Jean Beliveau, 80, has been admitted to hospital following a stroke on Monday. The former hockey star, whose name is engraved on the Stanley Cup a record 17 times (10 as a player and seven more as a team official) is undergoing what Canadiens’ officials are describing as “active investigation and treatments” for his second stroke in two years. As a player, Beliveau scored 507 goals and always played the game with style and grace, traits that have made him a much beloved figure in Quebec long after his playing days were done. In a statement to the Canadian Press, Prime Minister Stephen Harper wished the legend a “speedy recovery”, calling Beliveau: “a great Canadian and a remarkable ambassador for our national sport.”
