Sip & Savour – 1000 Islands Wine & Food Festival

A celebration of good food, wine, beer, art and music in the beautiful 1000 Islands.
Cooking demonstrations, Wine 101 Sessions, Complimentary Shuttle.

Join us in the celebration of good food, wine, beer, art and music at The 1000 Islands Wine & Food Festival. Mingle with producers in a fun and educational environment and experience some of Ontario’s finest foods and beverages.

The 2011 Festival runs two days, Friday June 17th – 4pm until 9 pm and Saturday June 18th – 11am until 8pm. This year it will be held in the Brockville Memorial Centre – Magedoma Drive, Brockville.

Festival Adult Admission is $8.00 and includes a complimentary wine glass – yours to keep!

A complimentary shuttle service will be available between the Brockville Memorial Centre,
the Brockville harbour, all Brockville accommodations, the 1000 Islands Jazz Festival and the Marianne van Silfhout Gallery.

Food and beverage pairing and cooking sessions using in-season and local ingredients are on the menu at the festival.

Sit, Sip and Learn at one of our Wine 101 Tastings and Blind Tasting Sessions. Sommelier, Delores Woodley and Joe Hache “The Wine Couple” from Prince Edward County, walk you through wine basics for the beginner or test your senses while comparing vinos while blindfolded!

Taking the “Snobbery” out of Wine – For a totally unique wine tasting experience, Russ Disotell, wine critic and column writer, will be guiding your tastebuds on an adventure not likely taken before – hot dog and wine pairing! Come and try it just to say you have!

Artists and artisans from the former Art in the City Brockville Studio Tour, along with local and regional colleagues, will be featuring their finest works in an amazing “one stop” venue at the Brockville Memorial Centre. Masterpieces in all different mediums will be available from paintings, sculpture, charcoal drawings to baskets, pottery, glass and leatherworks – something for everyone!

The 1000 Islands Jazz Festival will be dropping in to provide musical interludes throughout the two-day festival.

Cooking demonstrations will feature local Chefs Pam Collacott from the Trillium Cooking School, Seth O’Hara from the Brockberry Café and Suites and Thomas Riding from Just Wing It! For dessert lovers, watch as Miranda Kenny-Pellet from Country Girl Cakes guides you through the art of using fondant and gum paste to create amazing decorative cakes. All cooking demonstrations serve samples and are complete with a wine or beer pairing to compliment each recipe.

Emcees of the Festival are the fabulous Wine Ladies, Georgia and Suzanne! The Ladies excite and delight as they offer their sipping expertise!

The Great Wine Cork Collecting Challenge – an attempt to collect the most wine corks ever imagined! Festival organizers are asking attendees for their help! Save your wine corks and bring them to the festival on June 17th and 18th, 2011 to be entered into the challenge. Bag them, box them, throw them in your pockets! There will be an enormous wine glass built especially for the festival waiting to be filled with the wine corks. The person who brings in the most corks wins a fabulous Wine-Inspired Getaway for 2 in Prince Edward County! Getaway includes one night and breakfast at the Devonshire Inn with a complimentary Ruby Rose from By Chadsey’s Cairns Winery awaiting you in your room. Tour and tastings at By Chadsey’s Cairns Winery, Lunch at Tall Poppy’s in Wellington and a fantastic local dinner.
