Red Prince Apple Rabbit Holes

These Red Prince Apple Rabbit Holes will have your little bunnies hopping for joy this Easter. This festive snack will serve as a sweet-tasting and crunchy, edible canvas for some holiday decorations. They’ll also teach kids some basic cooking skills while allowing their imagination to run wild.

2 Red Prince apples
1/2 cup (125 mL) flour
1/2 tsp (2 mL) cinnamon
egg, whisked
3 cups (750 mL) Multi-Grain Cheerios, crushed

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

Core center of apples 1-inch (2.5 cm) in diameter then cut crosswise into 1/2-inch (1 cm) thick slices.

Set up 3 small shallow bowls. In first bowl, combine flour and cinnamon. Place egg in second bowl and crushed Cheerios in third bowl.

Take 1 apple ring and pat into flour to coat evenly then dip into egg letting the excess drip off. Place into crushed Cheerios, covering and pressing firmly to achieve even coverage. Repeat process with remaining apple rings.

Bake on a parchment-lined baking sheet in centre of oven for 13-15 minutes until light golden and slightly puffed.

Let cool slightly before serving. Can also be enjoyed cold.
