Quebec shooting suspect identified

The man suspected of killing a technician and wounding another man, is a trained engineer with a ski lodge near Mont-Tremblant, according to the Globe and Mail.

The Globe, as well as other media outlets, has identified Richard Henry Bain, 61, as the suspect being held in custody following the fatal shooting, citing anonymous police sources.

“I can’t believe he would get to that point,” a friend of Bain told The Globe. “He’s a businessman who’s very generous with his time. He’s not a man who needs money.”

Around midnight, party leader Pauline Marois was celebrating the election victory of the Parti Québécois at the Metropolis nightclub, when police say a man opened fire, killing one and injuring another. He then set fire to the building before being apprehended by the police.
