In December 2015, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts welcomed the renowned Claremont Club & Spa, A Fairmont Hotel to the company’s unrivaled portfolio of iconic hotels. Built in 1915, Claremont offers 276 handsomely restored guestrooms and suites, an impressive club and spa, and an unparalleled dining portfolio.
Following a multi-million dollar capital investment project, which updated the hotel’s facilities and enhanced its castle-like architecture, the majestic hotel sits in the Berkeley and Oakland Hills and is now poised to continue its rich legacy into the next millennia as a Fairmont hotel. Reopened in early 2016, all 276 guestrooms have been updated by global design firm Gensler, including the unveiling of a luxurious new Presidential Suite.
The Claremont marks its 100th anniversary this year with the culmination of this extensive restoration, with the hotel’s grand gallery entrance as clear evidence that the guest has indeed arrived. The lobby has been opened up to spectacular views of the bay, while the welcoming lobby lounge and bar are a haven for the weary traveler to linger and the surrounding community to enjoy. Aging hardwood floors have been restored as well as new carpets, book matched mahogany and hand carved leather upholstery create a rich and refined, plush ambiance. Bold touches of color keep the design fresh and current, while transitional furnishings of exceptional quality complement the classic interior and whimsical contemporary art suggest the presence of a true collector.
Claremont Club & Spa, A Fairmont Hotel also boasts a notable spa and club facility complete with kids’ pool, tennis and fitness center, rounding out the resort’s leisure offerings. Meeting and social event planners will have access to 20,000 square feet of meeting space, including the Empire Ballroom that can accommodate upwards of 450 attendees and a number of meeting rooms with spectacular Bay views. The iconic urban resort is also home to a private social and tennis club with loyal members who enjoy hotel amenities, fitness facilities and lifestyle programming.
Celebrated Chef Dominique Crenn of San Francisco’s Petit Crenn and Atelier Crenn proudly unveiled Antoinette in February, an inspired brasserie that seamlessly illustrates her poetic take on the classic ideas that surround French dining culture: ingredients, responsible sourcing, and the community that it inspires. The restaurant serves as a polished tribute to both the iconic hotel and Chef Crenn’s heritage. Executing Crenn’s vision is Antoinette’s Chef de Cuisine, Justin Mauz. Chef Mauz’s seasonal menus come to life through the use of ingredients – rotisserie, locally-sourced seafood, house-crafted cocktails and a hand-selected wine list. The menu is focused on modern takes on classic French dishes including whole Liberty Farm rotisserie duck, Coq Au Vin with maitake mushroom, whole roasted monkfish tail, salt-roasted parsnip barigoule, escargot, and caviar service. Antoinette-specific curated vendor partnerships will include Firebrand Artisanal Bread Company, Field Work Brewery, and Four Barrel Coffee.
