Weekend Entertaining: 4 Summer Cocktails
Why let summer go without mixing up a cocktail! We asked the experts at The Chelsea Hotel Toronto, one of Canada’s biggest and busiest hotels, to give us their secret recipes for refreshing cocktails that will add a little celebration into your lazy, hazy days of summer – at least those summer days that are left!
At the Chelsea’s T|bar, the hotel’s resident mixologist, Darlene, has carefully crafted three unique cocktails. Try them now, until the end of August; mix them up at home to make that summer feeling last.
Pelee Island Winery Red Wine Sangria
. 8 fresh raspberries
. 2 oz Triple Sec
. 4 oz Pelee red wine
. ½ to 1 cup of Sprite
. Garnish with additional raspberries and citrus segments
Pelee Island Winery White Wine Sangria (not pictured)
. strawberry, quartered and 6 blueberries
. slice orange or lemon
. 1/2 ounce white rum
. 4oz Pelee white wine
. 1/2-1 cup of Sprite
Blueberry Lemonade
. 1.5 oz Smirnoff Blueberry
. 0.5 oz Cointreau
. 0.5 oz simple syrup
. Squeeze of lime juice
. 3 oz of lemonade
. 8 blueberries
. 1 oz of club soda
In a Collins glass, muddle blueberries, splash of club soda, simple syrup, add fresh ice, 3oz of lemonade, top up with club soda and a splash of cranberry juice. Garnish with lime wedge and berries.
Brandy Punch
. 2 oz Duff Gordon Brandy
. 2 oz Ginger Beer
. 0.25 oz of Grenadine
. Touch of orange juice
. Squeeze of lime juice
In a cocktail mixer, combine all ingredients, shake, and strain in a coupe glass. Garnish with lemon or pineapple wedge.
