Academy Awards’ Best-Dressed Boomers

The subject of age will be one of the minor footnotes listed in the history books about the 2013 Oscars.

This year’s Academy Awards had the oldest actress and the youngest actress competing for the Best Actress award. But 86-year-old Emmanuelle Riva, nominated for her role in Amour and 9-year-old Quvenzhane Wallis for her role in Beasts of the Southern Wild, both alas, went home without gold statuettes.

What really will be endlessly debated and dissected today will be the red carpet outfits worn by the stars.

Both of these actresses were dressed age appropriately. Riva looked elegant in a navy Lanvin gown while Wallis looked like a little princess in a navy custom Giorgio Armani dress.

While pale shades seemed to be the trend on the red carpet this year for young starlets, some Hollywood veterans marched to their own beat and went for bold colour or graphic Art Deco patterns.

We round up some of the best-dressed boomers at this year’s Oscars.
