Designating your RRSP beneficiary

Funds will go directly to the beneficiary if anything happens to you, without the time and expense of probate.

Designate your spouse or a dependent offspring as beneficiary when you complete the forms to set up an RRSP. That way, the funds will go directly to him/her if anything happens to you, without the time and expense of probate. If your estate is currently the designated beneficiary of your RRSP, make arrangements to switch to your spouse. The financial institution that holds your plan can provide the required forms.
