Slip & Fall Safety for Bathtubs and Showers

You shouldn’t have to worry in your own home, but injuries from “falling” are a concern for Canadians of all ages.

“Ensure you have non-slip surfaces in the tub or shower” recommends the Public Health Agency of Canada, Division of Aging and Seniors and cautions that ‘fall’ statistics for Canadians aged 65 years and older confirm:

• Falls are the leading cause of death from injury
• One in three are likely to fall at least once each year
• 51% of falls resulting in hospitalization occurred in or around the home
• 53,545 were hospitalized for a fall in 2008/2009
• 38% who were hospitalized sustained a hip fracture / 39% sustained other types of fractures

54% of all falling related deaths of seniors are caused by falling down at home according to the National Safety Council.

And it’s not just seniors that are at risk from slips and falls in bathtubs and showers.

Nationwide Children’s Hospital reports more than 43,000 children 18 years and younger are treated in hospital emergency departments annually for injuries occurring in a bathtub or shower. Children younger than 5 years accounted for more than half of all injuries. Slips & falls account for more than 80% of injuries in bathtubs and showers.

Hotel Corporations, Healthcare Facilities and Health Clubs in North America, Europe and the Far East have endorsed and prefer Invisible Bathtub Mat® to provide safe, wet traction in their bathtubs and showers over unsightly, hard to keep clean, mould, mildew and germ attracting rubber bathtub mats and decals.

After applying the Invisible Bathtub Mat® you won’t see it, and you won’t feel any additional roughness, but laboratory testing demonstrated an 800% increase of traction (grip) in a wet bathtub. It’s also easy to clean afterwards with any brand of soft scrub cleaner.

“Two years ago I had to have a complete knee replacement. I was able to follow your instructions without any problems at all and am no longer afraid of slipping in my bathtub.
I was fed up with replacing my rubber bathtub mat and would certainly recommend this product to anyone.” Mrs. Patricia S., Winnipeg, Manitoba – 83 yrs. old

“I was a bit apprehensive when I took my first shower, thinking ‘does this actually work?’ By the second shower I felt completely comfortable and safe when I moved about. I highly recommend this product for everyone.” Mrs. Rose L., Toronto, Ontario – 85 yrs. old
