Cathay Class

Long haul flights can wreak havoc on our inner clock, sense of balance and hydration levels — inside and out. When flying to Asia, however, the choice of airlines is widely known to have outstanding service and on-time schedule records.

Cathay Pacific flies direct to Hong Kong from Toronto, and the nearly 15-hour flight is much less daunting with the quality of service. The business class section features reconfigured, pod-like seating, slanted to the aisle for easy access but private enough to get some rest tucked into the flat out beds and comfy duvets (no itchy blankets for this lot).

Both Western and Chinese cuisine is available on board, as is a selection of wine, port and champagne to enjoy in flight. The staff-to-passenger ratio is excellent, and the attention to minor details (such as constantly cleaned washrooms, plenty to drink and snack on and regularly delivered hot towels) ensure that the experience in the air will take the edge off.
